Welcome to International Development Missions

International Development Missions, Inc. (IDM) was incorporated as a Nevada non-profit organization in late 2001. In September, 2003, we received certification from the Internal Revenue Service as a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

We began quietly as a small group of people who all had a heart for Africa and were somehow serendipitously brought together. We began to meet and talk about our dreams of going to Africa and helping improve the conditions of the poor. Then one day, we sat down on a living room floor and drew the plans for a medical clinic. This clinic had been a long-time dream of Muthoka Mutua, a native of Kenya and a new member of our little group; he has lived and worked in Reno for many years. He has long wanted to build a clinic for the people of the Mua Hills, where he grew up.

Out of this dream and with the help of many volunteers and donors, IDM is proud today to have a functioning medical clinic, to be working on projects to provide water to the community, and to be building a learning center that the community will be able to use to further their education.
